In the fall of 2014, I was asked to participate in an exhibition called “Hue Mong Hue Mo”, an exhibition about the dreams and dreamers of Hue City. The exhibition included 33 different local and international artists and ranged from all different kinds of art mediums including painting, photography, installations, videography, and performance art. My photography included 6 black and white candid portraits of children daydreaming, specifically children from the Friends of Hue Foundation – Xuan Phu Children’s Shelter.
“As long as our children are still dreaming”
“In this era of modern technology ad entertainment, it is difficult to pull a child away from a screen. But, every time I take one of the kids to one of my favorite natural environments in Hue, they always seem to daydream right next to me. There’s something special about seeing one of my kids daydreaming. It brings me hope, that as long as our kids are still daydreaming in Hue, everything will be fine.”

“Trong thời đại của công nghệ và vui chơi giải trí hiện đại, nó thật là khó để kéo đứa trẻ xa một màn hình. Nhưng mỗi lần mình đưa một dứa trẻ đi một trong những địa điểm thiên nhiên yêu thích của mình ở Huế, tự nhiên họ luôn luôn mơ mộng ngay bên cảnh mình. Có một cái gì đó đặc biệt về lúc mình được nhìn thấy một đứa trẻ đang mơ mộng. nó mang lại hy vọng cho tôi. Miễn là trẻ em Huế của chúng ta vẫn đang mơ mộng, tôi cảm thấy như chúng ta sẽ ổn thôi.”
